‘Unkept’ park gets £45k revamp

-

A PARK which had been left unkept and unloved for some time has been given a £45,000 makeover.

The play area on Bodmin Avenue, in Macclesfield, has been unveiled following the renovation work.

Cheshire East Council have been working for some time on the children’s playground, which had been become rundown and disused.

However, environmental firm, Ansa, were brought in the spruce it up and have now completed the work, with a host of new equipment introduced, as well as a splash of colour.

Councillor Liz Durham, who represents Broken Cross and Upton, told the Express it was welcome news and she hopes families will now be able to enjoy the space.

She said: “I am really glad that the work has managed to go ahead, it has been a long time coming. I think it is great that Cheshire East recognised the needs.

“I don’t think it was very well kept before and it wasn’t particularly accessible for children and don’t think a lot of people would have gone there before.

“I hope a lot of children and their families will now be able to use it and enjoy it.”

Coun Liz Wardlaw, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for health with responsibility also for leisure services, said it was the result of a lot of hard work.

She said: “I am so pleased with how the play area and wider site has been transformed for local residents.

“This piece of land has become a welcoming and safe open space for local families to meet and for children to play. Ansa’s parks delivery team worked hard to ensure the equipment was right for the space and as appealing as possible. I’m sure this improved family space will be much-loved by local people and used by them for many for years to come.”
