‘Our first win not far away’

-

MACCLESFIELD Town striker Harry Smith is confident the team will come good as long as people give them a bit of patience.

Smith scored his first goal for the club on Saturday when he netted the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Mansfield at the Moss Rose.

Despite not winning any of their opening five games, Smith says the mood at the club is good and he hopes people can be patient and then they’ll start to see the side at their best.

“We’re such a positive group and we’re not letting the results effect how we are in camp. The vibe is fantastic and we just need to get a good 70 to 80 minutes instead of 45 good minutes and 45 bad minutes,” he said.

“We’re a new team, with new management and we’re gelling, so we just need a bit of patience from everybody and the results will come.

“In the first half against Mansfield we were nowhere near good enough.

“I thought me personally and everyone else weren’t at the races and weren’t sharp, and we probably deserved to be down 1-0 at half-time.

“In the second half we were fantastic and completely deserved the point and were unlucky not to win. We’re itching to get that first win and we’re so close.”

Smith joined Macclesfield in the summer following his release from Millwall.

The 23-year-old had a loan spell at Swindon while he was at Millwall, scoring two goals in 14 league games.
