A SCHOOLGIRL was top of the crops when she raised hundreds of pounds by having 12 inches of hair cut off.

Nicole Dews, 13, from Tytherington, underwent the chop at salon Lindsay Howard on Thursday, August 30.

Her locks will be donated to the Little Princes Trust - who make wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment - as will the £360 of sponsorship raised so far.

The Fallibroome Academy pupil, who lives on Augusta Drive, decided to have the haircut after hearing about other people doing the same thing.

A DAUGHTER who lost her father to dementia has raised hundreds of pounds after shaving all her hair off.

Allyson Attward, 37, from Macclesfield, has raised almost £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, in memory of her dad Alan Blinkho, 72.

Mr Blinkho, a former Macclesfield Town footballer, passed away on May 24 after a four-year battle with dementia.

Around 80 people attended the event at Broken Cross Club to see the mum-of-two shave her head.

The former Fallibroome Academy pupil said: “The night was amazing, people

Nicole previously had the longest hair in her class, now it is shoulder length.

Mum Charlotte Wright, 31, said: “She heard about someone else doing it and it inspired her to do the same.

“She’s now talking about growing it again and then doing the same thing. She really wants to make a difference.

“I am massively proud of her, she was very mature about it.

“Having more than 12 inches of hair chopped off at any age is quite a big deal, but especially for a 13-year-old girl whose hair was the longest in her class.” who we as family had not seen for some time came to support both myself and my family, local businesses were extremely generous and we had some amazing donations for the raffle.

“So many people turned up, plus all the people watching online on the night also, and friends and family.”
