Hotfoot to fundraiser event
IF you fancy a daring challenge then try walking barefoot over red-hot embers.
East Cheshire Hospice is holding a Firewalk from 6pm on Friday, November 2, as part of its 30th birthday celebrations.
The hot date will be held at the charity’s headquarters on Millbank Drive and anyone with a burning desire to tackle heat of 800 degrees Fahrenheit can take part.
The hospice last staged a Firewalk to raise funds three years ago and has brought back this exciting adventure due to popular demand.
Entries cannot be accepted on the night.
Hospice income generation director Rachel Allcock took the plunge last time and has bravely agreed to do it again.
Rachel said: “To say I was concerned first time would be an understatement, but I really enjoyed the experience. It’s safe and fun and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who fancies a challenge and wants to raise funds for the hospice.
“My husband was worried I might trip over but there’s full training beforehand and it all went perfectly. Afterwards I felt like I could accomplish anything! It’ll be a special night to remember.”
Family and friends are welcome to watch the Firewalk and cheer on entrants.
Bonfire-themed food and drink will be available.
The event starts with a safety briefing and instruction.
Enter by paying £30 to register and pledge to raise £50 minimum sponsorship, or pay the flat fee of £80 with no minimum sponsorship.
