Biker dad died in horror crash
TRIBUTES have poured in for a ‘beloved father’ who died when his motorcycle was in a collision with a lorry at a busy junction.
Terry Neild, 30, from Macclesfield, died at the scene of the crash, at the Congleton Road and Ivy Lane crossroads, near the Flower Pot pub, on Thursday morning.
Following the tragic news, his devastated family have been among those to pay tribute to Terry, who was a keen runner and a special constable.
In a statement they described him as ‘a beloved father, partner, son and friend’. His mum Michaela Butler also posted on the Macclesfield Express Facebook page and said: “My baby boy has gone words can not describe what pain I’m going through.”
Stepfather Mark Butler also posted: “I can’t believe my stepson is gone, I have shared so many fond memories of Terry, my heart is broken.”
As well as riding a motorbike, Terry enjoyed fell-running and was a member of Macclesfield Harriers.
He also served as a special constable with Staffordshire Police.
Detective Constable Dave Stubbs said: “So sad to hear of the loss of Terry. He was highly thought of by regulars and specials alike and will be deeply missed.”
And many friends have also taken to social media, describing Terry as ‘kind and caring’.
Alex Blaikie said: “Such a nice guy. I grew up as a friend and neighbour to Terry and his family and I am absolutely gutted but can’t imagine how his family must be feeling now.” Jeanette Ditchfield said: “I am so sorry to hear this. I have so many good memories of Terry going across to Macclesfield College to make a ham- mer on the engineering course. Too young to be taken away.”
Gemma Smith said: “So many great memories of the runs with Macclesfield Harriers and he was just the most caring partner and father.”
Joseph Connor said: “I know this guy and ran with him at times. RIP Tezza! You will be sadly missed all over and you will be well missed at Macc Harriers.”
The accident, which happened at around 7.40am, closed the A536 between Macclesfield and Congleton for several hours.
The HGV driver was not injured in the incident.
Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
PC Andy Evison said: “The Flower Pot crossroads is a busy junction and there may have been a number of motorists and pedestrians in the area at the time who may be able to assist.”
A 39-year-old man from St Albans, Hertfordshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving as part of the investigation. He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries. Anyone with information can call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 222027.
