A PROMISING boxer who is trained by former world champion Ricky Hatton has attracted a sponsorship deal.

Jake Haigh, 24, from Macclesfield, competes at the super middleweight division and so far in his professional career he has won 11 out of 11 fights.

He also has a first class honours degree in sports rehabilitation and has now been sponsored by Palletower, a logistics equipment provider in Sale.

Jake said: “Being a professional athlete is obviously a dream come true, but it isn’t possible without the support and backing of companies such as Palletower.

“This sponsorship deal will help me focus on my training and to further my career.

“I’m extremely grateful to Matthew and the team, as they have shown great faith in me, and I look forward to working with them.”

Ex-champ Hatton rates Jake as one of the most promising prospects in his division.

Matthew Palmer, managing director at Palletower, has known Jake since he was a youngster and is now hoping his career will pack an even bigger punch.

He said: “I’ve known Jake since he was 15 years old and have always been impressed by his attitude and dedication to his sport.

“He has an extremely exciting future ahead of him and we’re delighted to be able to support him on his journey through the professional ranks.

“As a business we firmly believe in helping local sportsmen and women with their development and I look forward to seeing how Jake’s career develops.”
