‘Keeper coach is Wolland

-

MACCLESFIELD Town manager Sol Campbell has made another addition to his backroom staff after highly-rated goalkeeper coach Kieran Wolland joined the club.

Wolland started his playing career with Blackburn Rovers, before then departing Ewood Park and moving across Lancashire to join Accrington Stanley.

The 33-year-old has also been on the books at Wrexham and Prescot Cables, but his biggest impact in football has come since moving into the coaching side of the game.

Wolland holds a degree in Sports and Exercise Science and is heavily involved with the coaching of academy goalkeepers at Manchester United.

He isn’t the only United connection now at the Moss Rose, after former striker Andrew Cole joined Campbell’s staff on a part-time basis earlier this month.

Cole enjoyed an extremely successful playing career, with his highlights coming when he won five league titles and the Champions League with United. He scored 229 league goals during his career, with the 47-year-old also having spells at the likes of Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Fulham and Bristol City.

He played alongside Macc boss Campbell when the duo were at Portsmouth together during the 2006-07 season, while they also lined up for England together from 1996 to 2001.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield have revealed plans to allow supporters the chance to play on the Moss Rose pitch later this year.

The club are taking bookings for pitch hire. Prices start from £500 (+VAT). Hospitality and bar access is also available. Spaces are limited so the club are asking for supporters to register their interest as soon as possible. To discuss a package and register interest, email sales@ mtfc.co.uk or phone 01625 264686
