People gather to remember ‘life and soul of the party’

-

MORE than 200 people remembered ‘life and soul of the party’ Tyler Wolstenholme during an emotional memorial ride.

Pupils from Macclesfield Academy, as well as staff and parents, could walk, skateboard or ride their bike on a route that began at the school, on Park Lane.

They made their way to South Park, one of Tyler’s favourite places to skate, where the crowd stood to remember the 13-yearold.

Among those taking part were his dad Simon and brother Dylan.

The memorial event was organised by Tyler’s friends James Fowles and a friend, who are both in year 11 and also keen skaters.

Steve Fowles, 39, James’s dad, said: “Tyler was an avid skater and there were so many people there, either walking, riding bikes or skating.

“The mood was upbeat and people were in high spirits chanting, ‘we love you Tyler, we do’.

“Tyler was full of energy and the life and soul of the party.”

Steve added his son wanted to try and help something positive come out of the tragedy and hopes to visit schools to talk with pupils about bike safety.

A gofundme page has also been set up to raise money for Tyler’s family to assist with funeral costs.

It was created by Steve on behalf of James, 16, and says: “All the students at the Academy will remember Tyler as a larger than life personality, an avid BMX and scooter rider, a talented trampolinist and an amazing friend.

“He will be missed by all.

“This page has been created for people to make donations and support the family through this difficult time.

“All funds raised will be forwarded to Tyler’s family.”
