Stately home invites wedding guests to stay

- ALEX SCAPENS

ASTATELY home is offering overnight accommodation as part of plans to increase the number of weddings held at its 100acre estate.

Capesthorne Hall, on Congleton Road, Siddington, is constructing six live-in pods and renovating a cottages at the site to provide somewhere to stay for guests weddings and events.

It is the first time that the venue, which is owned by the Bromley-Davenport family and managed by property agency Fisher German, has had permanent on-site accommodation and the new venture will create three jobs.

The double and family pods will open in March and will feature a small kitchenette.

Bosses at Capesthorne Hall say the project repre- at sents a significant investment and also received a LEADER funding grant, which provides money for projects that create jobs, help businesses to grow, and benefit the rural economy.

Matthew Burton, of Fisher German, said: “This is a milestone development for Capesthorne Hall, which until now has only had a caravan park within its grounds.

“It is an extremely popular wedding venue which dates back to the early 18th century and is set in 100 acres of Cheshire countryside, so it is a perfect place to get married.

“The plans for this latest development date back to 2016 after it was identified that there was an increasing requirement for onsite accommodation at venues hosting weddings and events.

“It is part of wider plans to double the number of weddings held at the estate.

“The luxury accommodation is in-keeping with the grand stately home venue and will retain historic features from the site, including materials from redundant historic greenhouses which will be used to create seating areas for guests after being removed to make way for the pods.

“The accommodation will be offered to wedding and event guests as well as those visiting the area and will be available all year round. We have already received a lot of positive feedback and the additional income stream will contribute to funding essential repairs to the hall and grounds.”
