Bravery key to transferring training form

-

SOL Campbell is urging his Macclesfield Town side to replicate the performances they display during training into their league games.

The Silkmen manager believes his team look ‘a million dollars’ during their sessions throughout the week, and now wants them to produce that same level of quality in their fixtures.

“We’ve got to transfer training into the games and stop forgetting what we’re doing. We look a million dollars in the week, and we’ve got more time and space than normal,” he said.

“Yet we still don’t quite pick a pass and I’m thinking to myself it’s something that we need to address. We need to be braver to move that training into games.

“That’s the most disappointing thing for me. Stuff like keeping the ball we can’t even do, and all of a sudden everything goes out of the window.”

Macclesfield’s last game saw them draw 3-3 at home to Crewe, and Campbell felt that Scott Wilson and Reece Cole deserved praise for their efforts.

“Reece took his goal fantastically and he is a top player.

“I’m glad he’s with us as he works his socks off. He is playing in two positions as well and he has a great career ahead of him,” he said.

“Scott’s goal was also great technique.

“He took it really well and he could have had another one as well but it just went past the post. The good thing is Scott is willing to learn, and that’s what I like about him.”
