Kelleher’s back to bolster Silkmen

-

IT’S been a busy few days of ins and outs for Macclesfield Town, with the most recent transfer activity seeing defender Fiacre Kelleher return to the Moss Rose on a one-year contract.

Kelleher was a key part of the Silkmen side last season, making 42 appearances in all competitions to help Macc secure their Football League status for another year and avoid relegation back to the National League.

The Cork-born defender started his career at Avondale United, before signing for Scottish Premier League giants Celtic in 2012.

Kelleher would progress through the youth ranks at Celtic Park, before turning professional in 2016.

A loan move to Scot

tish League Division One side Peterhead followed, before he moved south of the border in June 2017 to sign for Oxford United.

The former Republic of Ireland youth international then went on loan to Solihull Moors, before agreeing a season-long loan with The Silkmen last summer.

Another piece of recent business has seen midfielder Brice Ntambwe put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.

Ntambwe told the club’s official website: “I am really glad to be back and I can’t wait to get started now.

“The end of last season was fantastic when we secured our league status - it was a really happy time.

“We can build on our performances in the last games, because we put in some great team performances and they were really important.

“Personally, I think that my performances at the end of the season were better and I will try my best to build on them this season.

“I am definitely optimistic - we still have to finish building the team and progress together.”

There has been a departure from the Moss Rose over the past week though, as midfielder Tyrone Marsh has left the club by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old spent two seasons at Macclesfield, during which time he played a vital role in helping the team reach the Football League by winning the National League title in 2018.
