Great Scott wins it at Shrigley Hall

THE Thursday Stableford at Shrigley Hall was a tight contest with Rod Scott winning a cpo on 36 points from Gill Kershaw closely followed by Peter Whitehurst 35 and Brian Mountain 34.

It was also a tense finish in the Pairs Trophy at Shrigley with J Bennett and H Bateman winning a cpo on 43 points from A Holt and A Hunt, one more than M and C Powell and S Brooks and A Smith.

A singles Stableford at Mottram Hall was won by Matthew Nelson with 42 points ahead of Daniel Edwards 41 and Nigel Bown 39.

A medal at Mottram was won by Dave Roberts with 78 from Peter Smith 82.

A Seniors White Tee medal at Styal had club legend Harry Reid showing his class as he won a cpo on 67 from Neil Cowan, one less than Peter Christie.

A Wednesday Stableford at Styal had Kevin Doherty in charge with 38 points ahead of Ian Burgess 36 and Mike Burchell and Rhodn Jones, both 35.

In-form Sue Grange won the latest round of the Styal ladies Summer Cup with 19 points, one more than Hilary Boyce and Pat Millatt.

Macclesfie­ld ladies enjoyed Mr Captain’s Day with Rod Price giving out plenty of prizes.

Hilary Elsworth was a clear winner on the day with 70 taking her ahead of Gill Evans 75 and Judy Mutter 76.

Sue Orwin had the best gross of 93 and Lady Captain Myra Clark won the putting prize with 30 putts.

Anita Hall won the nearest the pin prize and Two’s were posted by Judy Mutter, Georgina Whalley and Margaret Milligan.

The Two Day 36-hole Junior competitio­n at Macclesfie­ld saw Olivia Delany top day one in division one with 75 from Harry Clements 82 and Daisy Ward 84.

Samuel McDowell led in division two with a stunning 63 from Austin O’Connor 72. On day Two the divisions were topped by Harry Clements 71 and Samuel McDowell 71.

It also needed a cpo on 36 in division two to see Gillian Garbett lead in from Liz Southern and Sylvia Cooke was on her own in division three with 33.

Prestbury ladies were in par action and in division one Tricia Hunt led in with +2 from Alex Forbes level par. It needed a cpo on level par in division two to see Jill Kimber on top from Gilly O’Neill and Erica Wilkinson.

Prestbury’s men were in a singles Stableford with the divisions led in by David Cooper after a cpo on 39 points with Paul Manning, Russell Gardner after a cpo on 33 with William Murphy and Mark Cresswell and William Riordan in division three with 33.

Avro seniors enjoyed an Away Day and none more than Derek Jones who led in with 33 points from Tim Bochenski 32 and Brian Renshaw and David Fortune, both 30.

It was tight in a midweek Stableford at Avro with a cpo on 38 points going in favour of Neil Flood from Chris Robinson and Stephen Callaghan.
