Chloe takes a hike to Alp raise cash
AWOMAN hopes to raise over £2,000 for the Christie with a three-day hike across some of Europe’s highest mountains.
Chloe Levett-Smith, 23, will walk through Italy, Switzerland and France when she treks in the Alps this September.
The speech and language therapist from Macclesfield will walk for almost nine hours a day to raise muchneeded funds to help bring the world-leading cancer facility to Macclesfield.
The former Manchester Metroplitan student said: “I heard that they were planning to build the hospital in Macclesfield and I’ve got some friends in Manchester that had already been treated at the Christie.
“I also a had placement
with the head and neck cancer care and the Christie were heavily involved. I know some of the amazing work that they do and how people have to travel very far to get that care.”
Chloe will cover a total of 46km alongside a large group of teammates who will be joining her for the five-day expedition.
The former All Hallows Catholic College pupil said: “I thought what better way to challenge myself and also help people in the Cheshire area get that care where they live.
“I am most looking forward to challenging myself and walking with likeminded people like myself. I am sure it will be lovely and with nice views but I am probably least looking forward to how my legs will feel the next day!
“I think it would be good to raise awareness that the project is happening so that other people know about it and they can think of other ways to fundraise.”
With just over a month to go, Chloe has already passed the halfway point of her fundraising goal of £2,250 but still needs more donations.
Anyone who wishes to donate can do so at bit.ly/2O9l8pP and help bring world-class cancer care to Macclesfield. On her fundraising page, Chloe added: “Anybody who knows me well probably know that I need a biscuit break just walking up a hill so this is a real challenge for me, for an extremely good cause.”
