Tiny adventurers go right to top of the class

-

A NURSERY has gone from the bottom to the top of the class in just a few months following a visit from Ofsted.

Inspectors from the education watchdog were at Tiny Adventures, on Park Lane, Macclesfield, and rated it as good.

Sub-categories of leadership, quality of teaching, personal development and behaviour, and outcomes for pupils were also said to be good.

It marks a turn-around for the nursery as it was rated as inadequate by inspectors after a visit in March. At the time owner Monika Pollard said the grading was ‘not a fair reflection’ and pointed out the previous four Ofsted ratings had been good.

This time round the report stated: “The manager and her senior staff have worked hard to address all the issues identified at the last inspection. They have implemented a number of improvements, have clear plans for continual development and are aiming for excellence.

“Parents praise the ‘friendly and amazing’ staff and say their children do not want to leave at the end of their session.

“They particularly like the amount of time the children spend learning outside. They feel the atmosphere is homely and teaching follows children’s interests rather than being prescriptive and inflexible.

“Children develop a strong ability to care for, and empathise with, others.”

Inspectors said that staff were good role models for children and praised the nursery’s safeguarding.

The report also said children develop well with reading and writing and that there was an ethos of ‘learning being an exciting adventure’.

It said the nursery could further improve by providing more information on how parents can support their child’s learning at home.

Ms Pollard said: “We feel that this grade is a true reflection of the standards that we have worked so hard to achieve for several years. I would like to thank everyone who stood by us and supported us over the past three months.

“We continue to provide children with a high quality experience: promoting knowledge and education; maintaining a homely atmosphere; and working closely with parents.

“We believe in putting the fun into learning: focussing on children’s unique personalities will always be at the heart of everything we do!”
