Dutch double for racers

- MOTOR SPORT

THE Mac2racing team travelled to Holland for the final meeting of the Dutch Masters at the weekend.

Only the top 20 teams are invited to this event prestigious event, held as part of the Zwartecross, the biggest four-day festival in Holland.

With 300,000 tickets released over the four days, it includes racing, stunts, fair ground, theatre and music.

The team has never before had exposure like this for their sponsors!

They spent time learning the track and were content to qualify in 14th place, as this put them middle of the front row.

In the first race the boys battled through from 16th at the first bend to take their best result of the series in ninth.

There was a delayed start to the second race due to an injured quad rider, seeing the teams waiting under the hot sun for an extra 30 minutes.

A tentative start saw them lose a few places but they settled in a rhythm and moved up to eighth.

A last lap battle saw them lose this on the last bend as an overly aggressive competitor pushed them wide.

So, two ninth place finishes gave the team eighth overall, also moving them to 13th in the final standings.

The previous week saw the boys travel to Germany for the World Championship.

Unfortunately they did not not qualify, missing out by three places due to a front brake problem.

It’s the summer break now until September, with three rounds of the European Championship still on the calender they are now third in the standings and the team is ready for the challenge ahead.
