Silkmen swoop for hat-trick of new signings
MACCLESFIELD Town have been busy in the transfer this week, after making three new signings over the past few days.
All of the new arrivals are defenders, with the Silkmen signing Fraser Horsfall and Theo Vassell on one-year deals, while Eddie Clarke has joined on a seasonlong loan from League One side Fleetwood Town.
Horsfall came through the youth ranks at Huddersfield Town, before having spells on loan at Trafford, Stalybridge Celtic and Gateshead.
In August 2017 he made the move to Kidderminster Harriers - initially on loan, before it was made permanent in January the following year.
He went on to become a key part of the team and would make 87 appearances for the side - scoring 11 times, and he now makes the switch to the Moss Rose.
Clarke began his career at Tranmere Rovers and made his debut for them during the 2-2 draw against Macclesfield back in November 2017.
After making 16 appearances for Mickey Mellon’s side, Eddie made the move to Fleetwood last summer and has gone on to make five appearances in all competitions for The Cod Army.
Vassell began his career at Stoke City, as he progressed through the academy before signing for Oldham Athletic in 2015.
After a brief loan spell at Chorley, Vassell signed for Walsall a year later and it was at this point that he started to build up his first team experience, as he completed two successful loan spells at Chester.
In July 2017, he signed for Neil Aspin’s Gateshead and went on to make 34 appearances - scoring on two occasions.
Aspin clearly rated Vassell, as shortly after the manager made the switch to Port Vale, Vassell would follow soon and joined him at the club, where he went on to make 15 appearances last season.
