£7.5k is raised as bid reaches new heights
STAFF from a pharmaceutical company helped bring the Christie’s Macclesfield bid to new heights by climbing the highest mountain in each of Scotland, England and Wales.
Employees at Adelphi Group, based on Grimshaw Lane, Bollington, completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge, raising £7,500 in the process.
With three peaks, the group were fundraising for three different charities, including the campaign to help bring world class cancer care to Macclesfield.
Following recent years of local challenges, the company decided to take on its biggest challenge yet.
A team of 30+ staff climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in Eng
land and Snowdon in Wales, with most achieving it in just 24 hours of total travel.
Others targeted 13 hours of walking but all completed the round trip of 820 miles from their Adelphi Mill offices, an initiative led by COO David Harrison.
Adelphi received recognition and support funding for The Christie from the Enterprise Foundation.
Enterprise have contributed more than $354 million to thousands of local non-profits focused on community improvement, education and environmental stewardship.
Stuart Cooper CEO said: “I am extremely proud of our team of staff from our offices here in Bollington, plus London and Amsterdam, who took on this difficult challenge in extremely poor weather conditions, with pouring rain and 45mph winds in some places.
“They worked together to achieve this fantastic result and have been impressively supported to raise this fantastic amount for the charities.”
The money collected from 3 Peaks Challenge will also go to East Cheshire Hospice and Mind.
Earlier this year, the company hiked 26 miles through the Peak District from Tittesworth Reservoir back to their headquarters.
In doing so the team of 35 raised £1,100 to split between East Cheshire Hospice and the British Heart Foundation.
