Father, runner and Special Constable
FOLLOWING his death tributes were paid to Terry Neild - who was well-known as a runner and a Special Constable.
The 30-year-old’s family also described him as a ‘beloved father’ and floral tributes were left at the scene of the accident, at the Congleton Road and Ivy Lane crossroads.
In a statement his family said: “He was a beloved father, partner, son and friend.”
As well as riding a motorbike, Terry enjoyed fell-running and was a member of Macclesfield Harriers.
The club received messages of condolence and support from fellow clubs in the area.
Shortly after his death a Macclesfield Park Run was held in his memory.
Jim Nettle, one of the organisers, said on the Park Run website: “Terry was always easy to chat to and his easy going nature meant he was always fun to be around
“Many of us know him through Harriers and will have run with him and chatted to him whilst running or recovering afterwards with a pint or two.
“He loved getting out running and he’s run with us here a few times but he also loved supporting and encouraging others
“However you knew him you will know that he was a big personality who will be very much missed.”
Terry had served as a Special Constable with Staffordshire Police.
Detective Constable Dave Stubbs said: “So sad to hear of the loss of Terry. He was highly thought of by regulars and specials alike and will be deeply missed.”
Many friends also took to social media, describing Terry as ‘kind and caring’.
Among them was Jeanette Ditchfield said: “I am so sorry to hear this.
“I have so many good memories of Terry going across to Macclesfield College to make a hammer on the engineering course. Too young to be taken away.”
