Hive of activity as four new arrivals sign in

MACCLESFIE­LD Town have been extremely busy over the past week after bringing in four new signings to the club.

Virgil Gomis, Corey O’Keeffe, Reice CharlesCoo­k and Connor Kirby have all joined as manager Sol Campbell bolsters his squad for the new season.

Gomis is a striker who has joined on a season-long loan from Championsh­ip side Nottingham Forest, following previous loan spells at the likes of Braintree Town and Notts County.

O’Keeffe is a full-back who joins on a seasonlong loan from Championsh­ip side Birmingham City. He arrives after a loan spell at National League side Solihull Moors during the last campaign - which saw him make fourteen appearance­s in all competitio­ns.

Goalkeeper CharlesCoo­k has agreed a one-year contract at the club, having began his career at Arsenal and progressin­g through The Gunners’ youth ranks.

The 25-year-old has had a busy career, beginning with a brief loan spell at Chelmsford City, before departing Arsenal and joining Bury in 2013.

He later made the move to Coventry City twelve months later, and an immediate loan spell at Nuneaton Town followed. He returned to the Ricoh Arena and would go on to make 52 appearance­s for Coventry over a threeyear period.

Charles-Cook has also played for the likes of Swindon Town, Danish Superliga side Sonderjysk­E, and Shrewsbury Town in recent times.

Midfielder Kirby also joins on a season-long loan deal from Championsh­ip side Sheffield Wednesday. He is a graduate of Wednesday’s youth system and has impressed for both the Under 18s and Under 23s.
