Show puts focus on camera club’s talented team
SOME of the finest images from Macclesfield’s best photographers will be on display in a new show.
Ahead of Macclesfield Camera Club’s new season, the group are holding an exhibition to showcase the work of its talented members.
Organisers say the photos on display are just a
taster of what their members can achieve and they hope others will be inspired to join.
The exhibition will be held between September 2-16 in the gallery at Macclesfield Library with the new season beginning on Monday, September 9.
Committee member Kevin Blake, said: “We very much look forward to the new season and welcoming new faces who have been in touch over the summer break and are interested in joining the club.”
These images have helped the group retain the Robertshaw Trophy -a contest between a number of Cheshire clubs - and gain silver in the High Peak Trophy over the last season, plus many of the members have won other external photographic competitions. The club has a mixture of photographers at all levels with a wide range of photographic interests, but they share common aims - to enjoy what they do, share their love of photography and learn how to get better.
This season they’ll be looking at capturing images using mobile phones, tablets and similar technology, urging photographers that they don’t need to have big expensive equipment to capture stunning images. The programme committee, led by Denis Jones, Vince Sparks and Val Lear have put together another programme of guest speakers, interactive evenings and trips as well as club competitions. The club meets on Monday evenings between 8pm and 10pm from September to May at Macclesfield Library for external talks and competitions and more informal and interactive evenings at Gawsworth Church Hall.
