Neighbours welcome car park work

-

THE start of work on a new car park at a care home has been welcomed after neighbours had complained for years of ‘serious safety issues’ surrounding visitors’ parking.

Since August 2016 the Belong Care Home, Kennedy Avenue, Macclesfield have had planning permission to build a new car park next to the building which was intended alleviate severe parking issues.

No construction work had started for more than three years after the development was approved.

With planning permission running out at the end of August this year, there were concerns from residents that nothing was going to happen.

However shortly before the permission to build expired, work commenced, with the new area expected be done by December.

Councillor James Barber, Cheshire East Councillor for Broken Cross and Upton ward, said: “With cars parking on the road being such a serious safety issue, the car park is a fully necessary development.

“After years of inaction, it is great to see work finally commencing on the building of Belong Care Home’s long-awaited car park on Kennedy Avenue.

“Parking concerns on the road itself are serious and have been for many years.

“So I hope that this will go a long way to alleviating these issues.

“While it took a lot of pushing from myself and fellow ward member, councillor Rob Vernon, we are delighted to finally be seeing some progress.”
