HEALTH MATTERS

-

THIS year’s ‘Know Your Numbers!’ week is all about knowing your blood pressure numbers to live a long and healthy life .

Many of us are living well into our 70s, 80s and 90s.

With so much life to look forward to, we want these years to be healthy and happy for everyone, free from disease and disability.

The key to a healthy later life is in keeping ourselves fit and healthy for as long as possible, making the most of the support available along the way.

There are many things that we can do to delay or even prevent disease.

Such as stopping smoking, watching what you eat and drink and being active.

But one of the simplest is knowing your blood pressure numbers.

Once you ‘Know Your Numbers!’ you can get support to bring your blood pressure under control and prevent these diseases.

Therefore, in 2019 the aim is to encourage people to live well for longer by going to get their blood pressure checked either at one of our Pressure Stations during the week, via community pharmacy or practice nurse, or via self-care at home, as high blood pressure has no symptoms.

If detected, it can be easily treated, thereby reducing your risk of a stroke or heart disease.

Together we can help to prevent death and disability from stroke and heart disease.

We have some blood pressure stations that you can attend, free of charge. These are located at Macclesfield District General Hospital outside the RVS shop 10am to 1pm on Monday, September 9, Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11.
