- ALEX SCAPENS

TEENAGERS and young adults are celebrating after graduating from the Prince’s Trust programme.

The group of 14, all from Macclesfield and aged 16 to 25, completed the 12-week course with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

As part of it they had to complete qualifications,

tasks and activities.

These included a fundraising bag pack, fire awareness training, a week-long team building event in Wales and food hygiene and first aid courses.

Having done so the group attended a black tie and evening dress graduation ceremony at the Wychwood Park Hotel, in Crewe.

Jason McTigue, Prince’s Trust co-ordinator, said: “The team have faced many tasks and challenge over the last 12 weeks, but their confidence has grown and their skill set has been expanded.

“I would like to congratulate everyone on the team, not only for graduating, but for the way they have embraced new challenges and I wish them all the very best for in future.

“I would encourage anyone who is lacking in self-confidence or may be stuck in a bit of a rut, as to what direction their life needs to go next, to get in touch with the team leader and take advantage of this free programme.”

The graduating youngsters this time were Adam Tomkinson-Jones, Ben Tinsley, Charlie McKee, Darren Mullen, Fraser Whitehead, Georgia Gregory, Joelan Nixon-Chatterton , Katie Smith, Lewis Gibbons, Liam Acton, Nathan Connolly, Nigel Jones, Thomas Reddish, Travis Platt.

The Princes Trust programme is a free 12 week course giving young people, between the ages of 16 and 25, the opportunity to learn new skills, complete qualifications and gain greater self-confidence.

Another Macclesfield team starts on September 30, anyone interested can call 07875 565135.
