MACC TOWN LADIES

MTLFC U18S ................... 0 WAVERTON U18S .......... 4

MACCLESFIELD Town under 18s, playing their first game of the season, were hampered by only having 10 players available for their match against Waverton. With many of those only joining recently it was going to be a difficult game.

However MTLFC got their match off to a strong start and denied the opposition any clear goal scoring opportunities. The girls quickly settled into their positions and fought very hard to keep a clean sheet. However AFC Waverton pressure eventually managed to break down Macc’s defence and take the lead. Waverton led 0-1 at half time but Macc were still in the game.

Macclesfield girls came out strong in the second half after a few tweaks to the formation the girls looked to push forward with new signing Annabel Cross linking up really well with the other forwards. As the match wore on so the Macc 10 began to tire. Waverton had the luxury of substitutions and scored 3 times despite some great defending particularly from Joelle McGann who was a welcome returnee to the team at left back. Lucy Green performed admirably in goal and Macc kept fighting to the end: 4-0 was a harsh scoreline for Macc but there were lots of positives to encourage the followers of this young side. Elisea Cooper, playing her first game for the club, took the girl of the game award for Macclesfield.

MTLFC U15S .................. 6

HARTFORD HURRICANES .1 A GREAT performance from the U15s in the first home game of the season.

The first half was a hard fought affair with both teams making for a very entertaining match. Macc ended the first half 3-1 up but the score at that point could have easily been reversed.

Macclesfield went out in the second half and stepped up a gear. The passing and movement was a pleasure to see and the game was wrapped up with a 6-1 win, a scoreline that really didn’t do Hartford justice, but the performance of the Macclesfield girls was a credit to the club.

The goals came from Lily Fallon (4) and one each for ‘Dids’ Parish and Molly Milward but the girl of the game went to Ellie Smith.

MTLFC UNDER 14 ......... 6 NORTHWICH VICKIES.1

AGAIN short on numbers Macc could only field 9 players against Northwich. Undeterred the players started on the front foot and ran out 6-1 winners in an impressive display. Goals from Ruby Walton (2), Holly Hurst (2), a first goal after 12 months injured for Holly Davies and a first ever goal for Lil Mitchell sealed a comfortable win. Girl of the game chosen by her teammates was Jaydine Tse on her debut.

MLTFC UNDER 13 ......... 3 AFC WAVERTON ........... 0

MACC started the brighter of the two teams, getting the ball out wide to Tatiana Pollard and Amelie Long. They both produced some great crosses and Tatiana was rewarded with a well worked goal. Macc continued to press and pass the ball really wel and Annabel Simons linked up well with Tatiana down right and forced a corner which Cassie Edghill curled straight into the top corner for a 2-0 half time lead.

After the break it was more of the same from Macc, Ashleigh Gibbons coming close with a header and Amelie Long with a long range effort that just cleared the cross bar. But it was Cassie Edghill who scored the final goal from the penalty spot after she had been brought down in the box following a superb run. Macc ran out 3-0 winners. Tatiana Pollard was girl of the game.

MTLFC U11 SYLKS........ 8 HARTFORD U11S .......... 0

THE U11 Sylks hit the ground running in their first game of the new season. A confident team performance saw the Sylks run out 8-0 winners with 5 goals from Sophie Goodier, 2 from Abi Poulton, and 1 from Bella Reed with assists from Savannah Keefe and Abi Poulton. Amber Newberry had one of her most complete performances in a Sylks shirt, earning her the Girl-of-theGame award. Special mention to Savannah Keefe on her debut performance. She showed great touches, great awareness, great feet, and made key contributions with her assists.

WESTON POINT U11S .. 1 MTLFC U11 SYLKS........ 4

THE second game of the campaign saw a competitive first half, with the Sylks stepping up a gear in the second half and running out comfortable winners. The goals came from Anna Davies (2), and 1 each for Bella Reed and Amber Newbery with ssists from Abi Poulton and Savannah Keefe. This was a complete team performance, with the manager unable to choose a Girl-of-theGame. Teammates voted for Bella Reed and Sophie Goodier for joint Girl-of-the-Game performances.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield Silks under 9s kicked off their first match of the season against Appleton, scoring three goals in the first half, the first from Maddie Barlow, the second from Anja Thompson assisted by Milly Sordillo and the third a banger from Isabelle Dawson!

The second half saw a comeback from Appleton who went on to score two good goals but Macc managed another from girl of the game Nellie Carney on her debut game and assisted by Jocelyn Ball.

In their second game Macclesfield started very strongly against Crewe with four goals for girl of the game Isabelle Dawson. The second half saw some great goals from Crewe who managed to equalise in minutes! Another goal from Nellie Carney made it 5-4, but Crewe managed to score their fifth late on.

Elsewhere Macc Town Ladies got their season up and running with an excellent 6-0 win at Ashville.
