Singers set to raise their voices for Christie cash

- ALEX SCAPENS

SINGERS are hoping to give people that festive feeling while raising money for the Christie at Macclesfield campaign.

Capriccio Vocal Ensemble will perform a Concert of Seasonal Music at the King’s School Girls’ Division, Fence Avenue, Macclesfield, on Sunday, December 1.

The group will perform music themed for the start of the Christmas season and sing mainly a capella with David Walsh conducting.

Cherry Smith, from the group, said: “Capriccio Vocal Ensemble is not made up of sporty types who can run, walk, swim or cycle.

“They prefer to raise funds for local charities by using their musical talents to put on concerts.

”Capriccio concerts are relaxed and informal with a mix of music to suit all tastes from choral classics to arrangements of popular music.

” You can be sure of a very enjoyable afternoon.”

The concert takes place from 3pm to 5pm and will feature Macclesfield opera singer Jayne Carpenter, who will appear as a guest soloist.

Cherry added: “Not only does Jayne have a ravishingly beautiful voice but she also has the ability to connect with and move an audience.

“Her contributions alone will make this a memorable event.”

Capriccio Vocal Ensemble’s last performance was a sell-out event in aid of Transition

Bollington at St. Oswald’s Church.

Tickets are £10 (under 18s free) and include refreshments.

They are available by calling 01625 829805, emailing cherry@ tmsservices.co.uk, from the Visitor Information Centre, Macclesfield Town Hall, or on the door.
