New-look centre opens after refit
YOUNGSTERS ON Ma c c l e s f i e l d ’ s Moss Rose Estate have a new-look community space to enjoy.
The building, which is on Mayfield Terrace, is used for music lessons and also workshops as part of charity Cre8’s youth and community programme.
And it has undergone significant refurbishment as it was in need of improvements and safety work.
In a partnership between Cre8 and Peaks and Plains Housing Trust there has been a complete electrical rewire of the building, emergency lighting installed and a modern fire safety alarm fitted.
Other community activities for residents on the Moss Rose Estate are also run from the building.
Jenni Hardy, from Cre8, said: “Seeing everyone use the new space to make and practice music has so many benefits.
“Not only can they develop their creative and technical skills, it also builds their selfesteem and social skills.
“We are particularly grateful to Sharon Holloway and the team for making the work happen and to see these young people in their music lessons has brought it all to life.”
Mark Howden, from Peaks and Plains, added: “It’s very fulfilling to see the works carried out by the trust and the positive impact it has had for the young people from the Moss.
”We’re proud to have played our part in the refurbishment so they can continue to come together to make change happen for themselves and their neighbours – and to make great music too!”
Cre8 is also using the building for its latest initiative - Cre8 Grow.
