Pupils put tribute on display
PUPILS and their families made a tribute to people who served their country in war to mark Remembrance Day.
Youngsters at Marlborough Primary, on Tytherington Drive, Macclesfield, created their own poppies for the display.
And - alongside their family - they also made posters and gave accounts of relatives that have served in the Armed Forces.
Staff were so impressed with the work that this week they invited people into the school to view it after lessons.
Lisa Grindley, from the school, said: “We’re incredibly proud of them and their hard work.
“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to make poppies, talk to grandparents, friends and neighbours or find photographs for our display.
“It really has been a labour of love and it has been humbling to read and hear the stories of bravery, adversity, and true heroics.
“The response has been so overwhelming that we have also created scrapbooks to display all of the children’s work so that no story goes untold.
“We hope that the children carry these memories with them through life and will one day pass them on to the next generation.”
Pupils at Bright Horizons Day Nursery and Pre-school, in Prestbury, used interactive media to study poppies.
And they also used materials such as
Playdoh to create their own. Gemma Milburn, nursery manager, said: “It was a good opportunity for the children to learn more about why we remember those who served the country at this time of year.”
