Keys first place at Prestbury

A MIDWEEK Stableford for Prestbury’s men had Graham Keys leading in with 36 points from Steven Kimber and William Caldwell, both 35 and Terry Cross and Stephen Angrove, both 34.

A ladies Stableford at Prestbury was won by Carole Ryder with 35 points from Josephine Harrison 33 and Gillian Singh 30.

The monthly medal at Shrigley Hall had division one topped by Callum Atkinson with a fine 67 from Steven Holroyd and Ian Wadsworth, both 68 and Brian Hopkins, George Bresnahan and Daniel Henshaw, all 69.

Andrew Jackson posted 66 to lead in division two from

Mike Politt 69 and Michael Lisle 71.

Styal seniors were in Winter League action and Mike McGuigan led in after a cpo on 36 with Chris Baillie, one more than Paul Suchoparek, Howard Dickson, Harry Wilks and Paul Lawday.

Jordan Howard survived a cpo on 36 points in a Wednesday Stableford at Styal ahead of Tom Bloor and Mark Mynes one clear of Jim Slavin.

Ian Brooks joined Bolton Old Links Golf Club just over 30 years ago and has put in an incredible amount of work for golf since then to become a true golfing legend in the region.

He is the new President of the Manchester and District Golf Alliance, the biggest and most active organisati­on of its kind in the region with over 110 clubs in its membership providing a variety of competitio­ns for profession­als and amateur for its member clubs.

Ian, who has been Vice President of the Alliance for ten years, has taken over from the late John Dowd who was President of the Alliance for over 25 years.

He has a vast experience of golf organisati­on at high levels for many years and he has plenty of plans for the Alliance to continue to grow its great reputation in the region.
