ROADS were the hot topic on Facebook this week with the ongoing Chester Road roadworks and the new roundabout installed as part of the King’s School development getting people talking.

HERE’S what some of you had to say about the work on Chester Road (A537).

Derek Machin: Sorry there should be penalty payments for long running closures. Oh and the council shouldn’t get away free either, how about some air quality metres being installed on this and the alternative routes?

Sara Halsey: Absolute joke. I travel from Buxton to near Knutsford everyday and that has been the worst and longest part of my journey for months and months. Now they’re planning to close it completely at some point!!?? Where the heck is the detour going to be?

Paula Lomas: ‘Thank you for your patience and understanding’! Nobody is being patient anymore, or understanding!

Julie Vohra: While the builders certainly haven’t gone out of their way to complete the roadworks, it hasn’t stopped them rapidly completing building the houses, which have caused all this. Joseph Connor: Every set of roadworks almost over run now and all you ever hear is, ‘circumstances beyond our control’ or ‘bad weather’ I think they are just becoming common excuses by the work force.

AS for the new double roundabout at Priory Lane-Prestbury Road... Cynthia Stafford: The problem is approaching from Priory Lane. You just cannot see anything coming from the right. Cars just speed up from Prestbury Rd with no intentions of slowing down. Seen a few near misses already!

Deb Briers: I thought this would be an absolute nightmare, considering the amount of people that don’t know how to use the two mini roundabouts on Priory Lane. However, it appears to be working great.

Lucy Evans: I thought that, until yesterday when someone whizzed straight across the roundabout when I was turning right into Priory Lane.
