Hale in a league of his own for Avro match

MIDWEEK Stableford action for Avro’s men had Peter Hale in a league of his own with 41 points from Phil Normanton 34 and Ian Arthur 33.

It was closer in a Senior Five Club Stableford at Avro with a cpo on 35 points going in favour of

Ian Anderson from Leslie Fowler, one more than Peter Hale.

Macclesfie­ld ladiesplay­ed two competitio­ns and an 11-hole Three Clubs and a Putter Stableford was won by the adaptable Wendy Higgins with 19 points from Kay Atkin 18 and Chris Hickmott 17.

The second competitio­n was aTeam Crash and it was won by the fab four of Myra Clark, Margaret Milligan, Carol Hyde and Joy Clements.

A medal for Macc’s men was led in by Brian Welch after a cpo on 69 from John Guerin, Neil Jackson and Neil Drummond two less than Keith Griffith and Philip Cockburn.

The Thursday Stableford at Shrigley Hall was won by Mark Kleynhans with 37 points taking him clear of Brian Williams 35 and Michael Lisle, club legend Howard Rowley and John Hogan, all 34.

The seventh Winter Pairs qualifier at Shrigley had M Knight and D Henshaw in a league of their own with 48 points from G and G Bresnahan 45 and M Brierley and A Brereton 44.

Styal seniors were busy in two competitio­ns with the latest Winter League Stableford being won by Graham Swann with 39 points from Paul Lawday 38 and Ted Marsden, Paul Carr, Alan Townsend and

Bruce Cochrane, all 34.

The seniors then put on their dancing shoes for a Waltzing Stableford with the judges giving top marks to Harry Reid, G Hamilton and P Jones with 76 points taking them home from C Baillie, P Lawday and J Parr 75 and D Blackburn, G Swann and R Vaal 74.
