Pete’s packed programme keeps him busy

- PROFILE

PETE Langley is naturally a very busy man: teaching both in the classroom, PE, and out on the rugby field at Kings School, where he is Coach of the unbeaten Under 12s team. Allied to this he is also manager and coach of MRUFC 2nd XV. And to keep busy during the summer, in addition to his duties at Kings, he’s seen swinging the bat at Macclesfield Cricket Club.

Pete was brought-up in Leicestershire; he became a Hooker at King Edward School, and was selected for Leicestershire U14, 16 and 18 teams. He went to Sheffield Hallam University where he played for them and Rotherham. There he turned out regularly alongside Lee Blackett of Leeds and Wasps fame and ex England winger Dave Strettle. He then played club rugby at Syston while doing his teacher training at Loughborough University, also coaching Leicester

Tigers Emerging Players.

Four years ago he came to Kings School and also joined MRUFC, initially as a player, before assuming the role of Coach and Manager. He loves assisting Apps and Jonah with the first and second team units, all training together in their squad sessions; his educational background and rugby experience is extremely valuable to the Club’s set-up. Pete has taken the Kings School on trips to: China, Dubai and Iceland; plus a full South America rugby tour to: Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.

Applauding the recent renovations at the Club, he says: “Macclesfield is not dissimilar to most rugby clubs, but the atmosphere is the friendliest I’ve ever encountered”.

Whenever possible he arranges the school matches on Saturday mornings, dashing across to Priory Park for our games – another fine team-player and Clubman.
