Møkk Lads back at home of idols
ANORWEGIAN Macc Lads tribute band have announced they will be back to perform in their idols’ hometown.
The Møkk Lads will appear at The Swan With Two Necks, Chestergate, on Saturday, February 1 2020.
Lead singer Haavard Gulbrandsen, 49, from Oslo, started the band with best friend and guitarist Ole Bernt Krogstad, 41, in 2013 as a bet.
Now they come to Macclesfield every year to play and watch their favourite football team play.
Haavard said: “We are older and fatter but better beer drinkers and we bring local Macclesfield band The Inserters’ with us as a support band.
”If Macclesfield Town still exists as a football club we will visit Moss Rose ground as we always do! This year it will be around 15 crazy Norwegians coming over with us. This will be our sixth year running at The Swan With Two Necks.
“Two years ago, four people drove for five hours just to see us, then they drove back after the concert! We also have a regular coming from Glasgow every year, he is now a good friend of mine.”
Other members of the band are Bob Pears, 48, from Yorkshire, and Nigel Burrows, 41, who is actually from Macclesfield and described as being responsible for bass playing and swearing.
Haavard met Bob on holiday and Nigel responded to an advert on a noticeboard at the pub.
”This year we have come to save you from Brexit. Buy us beer and we will tell you our sneaky plans,” Haavard said. “We love coming to Macclesfield because of the quality pubs, the football and the friendly people.
“It reminds me of some of our smaller cities in Norway, it is easy to feel welcome.”
