Sealey drops hint on Silkmen sale

-

THE waiting game continues for Macclesfield Town fans with the club remaining tight lipped on the Joe Sealey takeover bid.

As reported in last week’s

Macclesfield

Express, the businessman was in ‘advanced negotiations’ to buy the Silkmen and hoped to be on the verge of a deal.

This appears to be inching to a conclusion with a post from Mr Sealey’s Instagram account shared on fanzine Facebook page The Star Lane End. It said: “1 step closer we are getting closer.”

Mr Sealey, the son of former Manchester United goalkeeper Les, said last week if the financial side of the deal was as presented by current owner Amar AlKadhi then it was on.

The club is still declining to comment beyond what is released on its website.

Fans have reacted positively to Mr Sealey’s interest.

Andy Worth, chairman of the Silkmen Supporters Trust, said: “There’s universal support for the deal. From what Joe says many of his ideas for the future of the club resonate with the rank and file.

”We are cautiously optimistic, we have to wait and see.

“Everything he says makes sense, we want closer links with the community and businesses.

”We want to be a community club and for a club of our size that is what we should be.”

Macclesfield Town have confirmed the rescheduled date for the postponed game versus Crewe.

A statement said: “Further to the postponement of last Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Crewe Alexandra, we can now confirm that a new date has been set.

”The game will be played here at the Moss Rose on Tuesday 21st January, with a 19:45 kick-off.

“We would like to remind all supporters that tickets bought for the original date will remain valid. We will bring you all the build-up to the game in due course.”

Another statement also confirmed that Saturday’s game at Walsall, that ended in a 1-1 draw, was on.

It said: “Macclesfield Town are pleased to confirm that tomorrow’s game at Walsall will go ahead as scheduled.

“We really need your support tomorrow and look forward to seeing as many people cheering us on as possible.”
