Students put fundraising in fashion to earn king’s ransom
STUDENTS proved themselves to be model fundraisers as a night of style and sophistication added £13,500 to the Christie at Macclesfield appeal.
King’s School Sixth Formers held their annual fashion show in front of 250 people at the Main Hall, on Cumberland Street.
The school is moving to a new site in Prestbury next year and the theme for the show was ‘end of an era’.
This meant that those on the catwalk were modelling clothes from the 1960s through to the modern day.
Organiser Imogen Collinson, a year 13 student, said: “A massive vote of thanks goes to BooHoo, Pretty Little Thing, London Persona and Nasty Gal for lending us all the clothes for the evening and to parents for donating so many fantastic raffle prizes.
“This year’s event was particularly large, with an even bigger fundraising target, to mark the school’s end of an era on our current sites.”
Fellow organiser, Olivia Holder, said: “The event was a huge success and really brought the entire sixth form together, as all the sweat, tears and fake tan involved in working to raise money for such a great cause helped us bond together and make lasting memories.”
Nichola Doran, from the Christie, said: “We were delighted to be supported by the King’s School fashion show.
”More than 1,500 existing patients will benefit from world class cancer care close to their home when The Christie at Macclesfield opens.
”Construction work will start in May 2020 and we are aiming to be operational by Autumn 2021.”
