Residents warned of bin collection changes

-

RESIDENTS have been warned there will be changes to bin collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

Cheshire East Council says there will be no garden waste collections from Monday, December 23, to Friday, January 3, inclusive.

This is to allow collections to concentrate on silver and black bins, which are subject to some changes themselves.

Should these bins be due for emptying on Christmas Day, silver bins will be done on December 23 and black bins on December 24. If scheduled for Boxing Day, silver bins will be done on Friday, December 27, black bins on Monday, December 30.

New Year’s Day collections will instead be done on New Year’s Eve for silver bins and Thursday, January 2, for black bins. Ralph Kemp, the council’s head of environmental services said: “I urge all residents to make sure they are prepared for the suspension to garden waste collections.

“During the shutdown residents can take their garden waste to any of the Cheshire East household waste recycling centres.

“Some households will find they are also affected due to the Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day bank holiday. Please check the reverse of your collection calendar for full information or check the information on our website.”

The household waste recycling centres in Bollington, Macclesfield and Poynton are open every day except December 25.
