Harry’s following in his father’s footsteps
PLAYER PROFILE: HARRY HARDING
HARRY Harding, at 19, is one of the young-guns in the first team; straight up from the Colts with Will Davies and twins Harry and James Oliver.
He speaks volumes for the set up of our Colts Section, praising the efforts of Chairman of the Mini and Junior section, Phil Mason.
Attending Fallibroome School, adjacent to Priory Park, he captained all the sides from year 7 right through to year 11 playing Number 8; playing at the same time for our Mini and Junior sides, at each age group, first starting at prop then moving to second row.
Entering the 6th form he moved to Wilmslow High and was their player of the year in the Upper 6th. Simultaneously he played Under 18 Academy for Sale Sharks eventually playing at Saracen’s ground Allianz Park in the Academy Cup. At the age of 17 he was able to start playing for the senior sides. Harry’s father, Matt, a former Captain of
MRUFC, had helped encourage and formulate the careers of 1st team legends: Sam Moss, Billy Robinson and Frankie Barker.
Now these three players are returning the compliment to the Harding family, by passing on their knowledge and experience to Harry; he thinks this is an enormous help in his development, helping him to become a better player.
His main ambition is to aid the team’s development in any way he can.
He feels the position he’s in, at such a young age is very special privilege and is determined to improve into his full potential; and at 6’ 4” and 115 kilos (18 stones) he certainly has the physique to become a regular on the team-sheet. His powerful performance against local rivals Lymm winning him the Man of the Match Award.
Outside of rugby he works in his dad’s yarn processing business and next year thinks he’ll get a trade; after all plumbers, electricians and joiners are rarely out of work. He regularly works-out in the gym, and like all youngsters he loves X-Box and he’s a top Call of Duty and FIFA player.
As he still lives with his parents it’s not difficult to imagine the topic of conversation at mealtimes in the Harding household!
