We’ll keep giving our all insists Macc boss

-

DARYL McMahon insists his Macclesfield Town side will continue to give it their all throughout the rest of the campaign despite the continued troubles surrounding the club.

Ahead of their New Year’s Day fixture, Macc had failed to win any of their last eight league games, with the last two results seeing them lost 1-0 at Forest Green Rovers and draw 1-1 at home against Grimsby Town.

The Grimsby match was in doubt in the days leading up to the fixture, after their other planned fixture with Plymouth couldn’t go ahead due to them being served with a ‘zerocapacity notice’ at the Moss Rose.

Those issues were eventually resolved, and McMahon has commended his players for continuing to battle adversity, especially after managing to earn a point against Grimsby.

“Everyone knows what has been happening at the club in the last couple of months and a lot of people are working extremely hard to keep things going. Myself, the lads and the staff will keep working hard for the football club,” he said.

“It was ugly and scrappy against Grimsby, there was not a lot of quality. There was a lot of endeavour and hard work but not a lot of good decisionmaking.

“It was just an ugly game of football, really.

“There wasn’t a lot of quality in that game, I look to us to be better than we were, I expect us to be better than that as a group but for whatever reason we’ve not put in a good performance.

“We just didn’t show the quality we’ve got in this group, we’ve got a lot of good attacking players but we didn’t manage to carve out a good opportunity. With that in mind it’s definitely a point gained. We’ll take it and move on.”

Macclesfield also released a statement praising those behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to ensure the ‘zerocapacity notice’ would be lifted.

The club said: “Our safety certificate has now been re-instated in full. This is as a result of the dedication and hard-work of the non-footballing staff who refused to be beaten, the support and advice received from Cheshire East Council and the incredible assistance given to us by the EFL.

“In addition to this, we would like to formally offer our most heartfelt thanks to the Silkmen Supporters Trust and Taurus (who provide the matchday stewards) for their invaluable help throughout.

Finally, a massive thank you to our loyal fans for their continued support through what has been a difficult time for us all.”

The postponed Macclesfield match with Plymouth has now been given a new date, with the game taking place on Tuesday 18 February, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm.
