Cannabis medication offers man a ‘lifeline’

- ALEX SCAPENS

AMAN who lived with debilitating pain for three decades says his life has been transformed by cannabisbased medication.

Brian Walker, 66, from Bosley, began suffering from chronic bouts of pain that left him unable to exercise or walk long distances in his mid-30s.

Repeated scans and x-rays failed to diagnose the issue until it was finally pinpointed as fibromyalgia in 2015.

This, according to the NHS, is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body as well as stiff muscles, tiredness, headaches and memory problems.

It is thought the cause is abnormal levels of certain chemicals in the brain and although symptoms can be eased with treatment there is no cure.

So while pleased to have finally found the reason for his pain, none of it was subsiding and Brian began with the onset of depression.

Out of desperation he tried cannabis derivative CBD oil, also known as cannabidiol, and says he has never looked back.

Brian said: “I only wish I’d discovered it 30 years ago.

“The effects were almost immediate and after just a week of using it I had my first pain free week in over 30 years.

“I can honestly say it has become a lifeline, I’m never going back to how I was before.

”It was debilitating. I couldn’t predict when it would strike and there didn’t seem to be a pattern or trigger that caused it.

“Over the years, it stopped me from exercising, walking too far and even going on holiday which made me feel so guilty that we couldn’t do normal family activities because of this condition.”

Brian’s wife suggested using cannabidiol DR CBD RX after reading about the brand in a magazine.

He tried the spraybased product and says he now leads a normal life with his family.

Brian says upon diagnosis in 2015 he had been prescribed codeine phosphate and paracetamol, which managed his symptoms but left him drowsy.

He said: “I had a name for the illness that had caused such ongoing suffering. I was optimistic that we could start a programme of treatment, but the relief at discovering the source of pain was short-lived.

”Prescription drugs made me feel extremely drowsy. I was constantly tired, and I couldn’t concentrate, it affected my ability to work efficiently and I was forced to choose between living a pain-free life or working.

“We needed a regular income, so unfortunately, pain seemed like the lesser of two evils. I was back to my miserable existence.”

The man behind DR CBD RX is pharmacist Tom Chapman, who has a PHD in Chinese medicine.

He said: “Living in chronic pain can bring a life of misery, as Brian well understands.

”I’m delighted to hear so many uplifting stories from customers who claim their lives have been transformed.”
