ACCLESFIEL­D Golf Club Captain Rod Price and President Neil Mutter have celebrated 50 years of friendship by enjoying a great year on and off the course at their beloved club.

Rod said: “There have been many highlights for me over the year… My Captain’s Day in July, and having my son’s band entertaini­ng us in the evening (Very special!).

“Both our A and B teams won the Derbyshire & Cheshire Leagues, a feat we achieved six years ago.

“Our Seniors team reached the Seniors MDGA Semi Final and also the final of The MDSL and we were also quarter finalists in Alliance Archie Preston.Mixed Foursomes.

“My own golf has been specialfor me in winning The Seniors Spring Cup, The Seniors Open Day with my good friend Pete Holmes, the Seniors Away Day at Astbury and the South Cheshire Captain’s

Autumn Cup at Sandbach. and I’ve reduced my handicap as well !!!!

“I couldn’t have achieved everything this year without the support of my Lady Captain Myra Clarke, my old friend The President Neil Mutter, Chairman Adrian Lamb and his Board of Directors and all of the various committees.

“Everybody has worked extremely hard and I hope that will continue for the year to come.”

Midweek Stableford action at Avro saw Ken Fairfield lead in with 37 points, four more than Neil Flood and Rod Lambert.

A Three Sixes Team Stableford at Avro was won by the experience­d trio of Rod Lambert, Bob Holt and David Fortune with 83 points from Terence Pearson, Ian Anderson and Paul Johnson 79.

A 9-hole Stableford at Alderley Edge had Robert Anderson in a league of his own with 23 points, five more than Alan Adams, Simon Barber, Chris Brandon, Mike O’Regan, Gary Johnstone and Andrew Boyle.

Sean Smith had first pick of the prizes as he won a Stableford at Mottram Hall with 35 points and just a point off the pace were Andrew Brechin, Peter Smith and David Laird.

It needed a cpo on 80 points in a Team Stableford at Prestbury to see the hot trio of S Kimber, D Rogers and Fred Bridge win from N Wood, W Dawson and S Moorhouse, two more than G

Payne, M Forbes and M Jackson.

Medal action from Shrigley Hall had Harry Bateman leading in division one with 67 from Jack Bennett 69 and Richard Burrow 70.

In division two Michael Gibbons won a cpo on 73 from Michael Chesters, two less than Alan Davidson.

Harry Bateman again led from the front in the Thursday Stableford at Shrigley with 39 points, two better than Michael Lisle, Peter Whitehurst and Steven Holroyd.

Winter League action for Styal seniors had Graham Swann flying high as he posted 42 points to finish well clear of Bruce Cochrane 38, Paul Jones 36 and Steve Weaver 35.
