WE’VE written a number of times about the 130 bus service (for example page 15 in this paper) and an article about cancer patient Lori Cummings needing it to get to her appointments at the Christie has prompted some debate. Here’s what you had to say: transport! I hope this gets resolved, for all patients who need this service! Carole Peate: I am so sorry to read this being a regular user of the 130 service it has come as a great shock to learn that from 26th January a new company will take over. To many people this service is the lifeline to the outside world for numerous reasons. Rachel Preece: My mum also gets transport to and from the Christie if you give them a ring they will sort it out, you can also have someone accompany you as long as you inform them when booking.

Melanie Butson: The problem with any Arriva bus service, is the expense. Even short journeys on the bus are extortionate, and therefore it’s putting off paying customers from using it. The 130 service always used to be busy from the first bus of the day. They were often late in the evenings.

Becca Smith: The key point is that an another important bus service has been cut, when people are poorer than ever and we have a climate crisis. Vera Tankard: It is a bus, nothing to do with the NHS. They have every right to cut its service if it is not making the money desired. They’re not medical accessories that should exist mainly for our medical issues.
