Cycle shop rides into centre unit
THE wheels have been put in motion to fill a unit in Macclesfield’s Grosvenor Centre with the opening of an independent cycle store.
Peak cyclesport opened in the mall, in the town centre, on Saturday, January 18.
It is the business’s second outlet as owner Andy Bowers also has premises on Wood Street. The new shop will sell electric bike brands including Riese & Müller, Kalkhoff, Focus and Bianchi with motor systems and batteries.
Andy said: “There’s an electric bike revolution across Europe and this new store will enable customers to see the best technology.
“Macclesfield and the surrounding areas are great places to explore by electric bike, from the quiet but rugged Peak District to the leafy Cheshire lanes.
“We’re delighted to be working with the team at Grosvenor Shopping Centre to bring our offering to a wider audience, the centre has really helped make the new store happen.
“This is part of an organic, local town centre regeneration led by enterprising, speciality retailers and leisure operators in conjunction with landlords.”
Ed Kennedy, manager at the Grosvenor Centre, said: “Off the back of (toy shop) the Entertainer’s opening before Christmas, this is another bit of incredibly exciting news for the shopping centre.
“Cycling, on the whole, has risen in prominence over the years and there is a particular interest for it here in Macclesfield.
“We’re
looking
forward to working with Andy and PEAK cyclesport and believe his bikes will become incredibly popular with our shoppers, especially with spring and summer still to come.”
