Ladies so close to pulling off upset

MACC Ladies reward for beating Sandbach United in the 1st round was an away tie against Northwich Vixens of the North West Women’s League, 2 leagues above Macc.

After shaking off some early nerves they started to get a few chances and took the lead in the 15th minute when Lorraine Moss converted a superb pass from vice captain Becky Rowbotham.

Macc looked to scored a second midway through the second half only for the effort to be ruled out, and the disappoint­ment was compounded when Northwich equalised with 10 minutes to go from an own goal and then struck a 90th minute winner.

They return to league action with a game against Manchester Rovers away next week.

MTL UNDER 14S .............. 4 VALE JUNIORS ................ 2

The 14s continued their unbeaten run with a 4-2 victory over Vale Juniors. For the first time in a while Macc weren’t really firing on all cylinders and made hard work of a victory over the opposition’s 9 players. Goals came from Ebony Stewart (2), Jade Ashton and Jaydine Tse.

MTL UNDER 13S .............. 6 BLACON YOUTH .............. 0

The girls came out firing against Blacon Youth, with an early goal from Ashleigh Gibbons from inside the box. Macc didn’t stop there and a goal from each Rosie Hague and Annabel Simmons gave them a 3 -0 half time lead.

The girls started the second half where they left off with Rosie Hague and Annabel Simmons each getting their second and they rounded off the scoring with an impressive sixth goal from Kacey Woollam, the Under 13s first ever headed goal.

MIDDLEWICH CENTURIANS

Pheobe Denham started the match off with an excellent goal within the first minute and before the end of the half managed her second. The second half saw Macclesfie­ld Girls totally dominate their opposition. Middlewich did manage a lovely goal in the first couple of minutes but shortly after girl of the game Autumn Greensmith scored four goals within six minutes and worked well with striking partner Jocelyn

Ball who bagged herself a goal in the closing minute.

MACC GIRLS UNDER 9S V BARTON UNDER 9S

The girls played a full squad of 6 vs 6 in their second game and continued their winning streak. Barton managed an early goal but striking midfielder Autumn Greensmith managed to score two excellent goals and debut player and girl of the game Martha Griffin bagged her first goal.

MACC SILKS UNDER 9S VS CUDDINGTON AND SANDIWAY UNDER 9S

A strong start from Cuddington and Sandiway saw a great goal in the opening minutes but Macc Silks went from strength to strength. Usual goal keeper Ffion Barlow played outfield and showed off her skills up front by equalising in the first half. Isabelle Dawson scored a smashing goal and leave the Silks with a win!

MACC SILKS UNDER 9S V UPTON U9S

Full of confidence after winning their first match, the Silks produced some great passing between Maddie Barlow, Elsie Wall and Isabelle Dawson. This enabled Elsie to score a hat trick and Maddie to score an excellent goal too. Girl of game Milly Sordillo worked well in midfield during the first half and played as the goal keeper in the second, showing off her saving skills. Anja Thompson and Ffion Barlow stood strong in midfield and defence and deflected any chances for the opposition.
