Young Harry can have big impact

-

MARK Kennedy has backed new signing Harry Hamblin to make a big impact at the club after he joined Macclesfield Town until the end of the season.

Hamblin signed for the Silkmen on transfer deadline day after leaving Premier League side Southampton, and Kennedy is looking forward to working with the 20-year-old.

“We are really pleased. First and foremost, he’s a young lad with a bright future ahead of him and that’s something I do want going forward. He’s a good kid, he’s come from an outstanding academy,” he said.

“He’s got good values in terms of his skillsets; he ticks the boxes that we’re looking for. I’ve got to say a huge thank you to Matt Hale at Southampton because he played a big part in helping us get Harry.

“He’s a valued member of the elite academy, everybody knows that at

Southampton. For us to ring up and enquire to get Harry, we couldn’t of done it without his help.

“We met Harry last night at the ground, he’s a lovely boy and the stuff that I know having watched him – he ticked a lot of boxes.

“Danny Butterfield, who is one of my trusted assistants, has worked with him for an extensive amount of time when he was at Southampton. He is a player that we know quite well and he’ll be a huge asset to what we are trying to do here.”

Hamblin made his debut for Macc on Saturday, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Northampton Town. It was the Silkmen’s first league defeat at home for 13 matches, and Kennedy hopes to bounce back from the set-back and start to go on another run.

“I think one of the keys to any team no matter what league your in is that you’ve got to win your home games, pick up as many points as you can and get results away from home,” he said.

“Our record here at home this year has been fantastic, we want to continue that. It’s a tough, tough place to come. I want to make sure we are competitive and we pick up points away from home.

“It’s key at home to pick up as many points as you can. It’s incredibly difficult at any level to win away from home so we’ve got to take advantage at home.”
