Price of wavering from game plan

-

MARK Kennedy was left ‘disappointed and frustrated’ after the 1-0 defeat at Newport County last Tuesday.

Joss Labadie scored the only goal of the match at Rodney Parade after 34 minutes of the game, condemning the Silkmen to defeat. While his side may have come up short, Kennedy felt his team should have been the one to earn the victory.

“I’m disappointed and frustrated, we had the two best chances of the game and it would have completely changed the game it we didn’t fail to execute them. I was disappointed in how we didn’t go with our game plan as we came here with an idea on what we wanted to do but we just didn’t do it,” he said.

“They’re a great group to work with and have a fantastic attitude. Their application is phenomenal, but we just need a bit of education.

“We’re going to lose games this year but more importantly we will win games! If we’re going to do that then I want it to be done in the way that we set out to play on the day.

“I keep mentioning it but I’m going to say it again in that we need players and we need help in strengthening the team in the next few days. But we’ve got a group that is a pleasure to work with and we’ve got a good ability within that group as well.

“We’ve played a really tough opposition and we had the two best chances in the game, but we lost 1-0. You saw the goal and I think Labadie was the best player by far, he was the difference.

“Thank you so much to the fans, we’re very grateful and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Every game we finish the players always go over and thank them and it’s genuinely from the heart. Football is an incredibly expensive game to follow and were fully aware of the time and dedication they put in to support us. We’re very grateful and I’d like to say a huge thank you to them.”
