Bjork to join dots on stage at festival B
LUEDOT festival has revealed its 2020 line up this morning, with a UK exclusive festival performance from Bjork at the top of the bill.
Also headlining at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire this July will be Groove Armada and Metronomy.
The annual festival, which will take place between July 23 and July 26 this year, brings together science and music.
Bjork will close the weekend by performing alongside the Halle Orchestra while projections light up the Lovell Telescope.
Also confirmed for the music portion of the family-friendly festival are indie-electro band Metronomy, who released their sixth studio album Metronomy Forever last year.
Groove Armada will deliver a dance set drawing on their 20 year musical career, which has included chart-topping hits such as I See You Baby.
They will open the festival - now in its fifth year - on Friday July 24.
Also confirmed for this year’s Bluedot is disco diva Roisin Murphy, indie ride Ride, techno fusionist Squarepusher, psychedelic rockers Spiritualized, and Tangerine Dream.
The bill also inclues Daniel Avery, EOB (the new solo project of Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien), Seth Troxler’s new Lost Souls of Saturn project, HAAI, BC Camplight, Anna Meredith, and Henge.
Electronic legends 808 State will be performing, alongside Crazy P, A Guy Called Gerald, It’s The Church and Liz Lawrence.
Late night parties will be led by DJ Yoga presents Stranger Things, a set of 1980s music and samples from the Netflix series.
Though the full science and arts line up has yet to be revealed, the first parts of the programme have been announced.
These include include Celebrating 42: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Live, a stage show featuring series performers and producers, written especially for Bluedot; Is David Bowie a God? a comedic, musical exploration of the legend’s messianic status; the Pankhurst Sessions, a programme of talks, panels and screening curated by the activist and great grand-daughter of Suffragettes leader, Helen Pankhurst.
Comedy performances will come from Phil Jupitus and Adam Buxton.
The Luminarium - an interactive light installation - will return to Bluedot, alongside the Outer Space area that features a fire garden and sonic sculptures.
