Bowling centre strikes out parking scheme

-

CUSTOMERS at Macclesfield Superbowl have been told their complaints have skittled over car park firm UK Parking Control.

Bosses at the bowling centre have announced this week that they have ‘removed’ the parking management firm’s system from their Lyme Green premises.

And as an apology for issues at the site, Superbowl is offering a free game to anyone in Macclesfield.

The firm was brought in last year in response to the car park being used by large amounts of people who were not customers.

But since then there has been a number of complaints about the system UK Parking Control operates, as reported in the Macclesfield Express.

A Superbowl spokesman said: “We’re pleased to announce that the UK Parking Control (system) that has been in operation has now been removed.

”We’re sorry if its affected you over the last 12 months.

“At Superbowl UK we are all about giving back, we are giving away free bowling to everyone in Macclesfield who signs up to our special offers via our website.

”Once again we are sorry and we look forward to welcoming back all of our loyal customers to Superbowl UK very soon!.”

Under the system parking was still free but customers had to register their car details on machines inside Superbowl that would then be matched to ANPR cameras.

If there was no match the owner of the car would be fined.

A common complaint was that when people registered their details, the machine would not store them successfully.

The situation came to a head after mum Amanda

Whittaker fell victim and told her story in the Express.

In making the announcement Superbowl said that steps were taken to make the system and what it entailed as visible as possible.

And that there was no financial gain for the bowling company.

UK Parking Control has been contacted for comment.
