FURTHER details of how a version of Barnaby Festival will still take place this year have been revealed - and include an online disco and cartoon drawing.

The event, due to take place in the town from June 18 to 28, will now have a smaller virtual version on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, because of coronavirus restrictions.

As part of this comic artist Marc Jackson will host Funny Vision - which will consist of two online cartoon drawing sessions on Sunday from 11am to 11.45am and 2pm to 2.45pm.

He will help participants create a future themed character and a world for it to live in.

And there will be Disco in Furlough on Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to 5pm in which people can dance in their own living room and play family friendly games.

This will be run by Silent Adventures UK, who are well known for running silent discos, and with it being Fathers Day it is hoped there will be some expert dad dancing.

Marc said: “Being able to still connect with the audience online, as we all work together, will be great and seems fitting as we create the future.

“I’m so pleased to be involved in the virtual Barnaby Festival. Barnaby is such a highlight for the town and the residents. I’ve been working with them for the past five years.

“The spirit of the festival is to approach things differently and so, even though the current climate has resulted in the physical event being postponed, what comes out of it will be something uniquely Barnaby.”

In addition to these events there is a stay at home parade on Saturday from midday.

People are asked to dress up and decorate their home and garden - turning it into a static parade entry.

Artist Simon Buckley will live stream his Our Future is Ancient art installation, featuring photos from Macclesfield

Forest during the full moon, on Saturday.

There will be projections and storytelling and the work can then be seen by people on the Barnaby

Festival website.

Information on how to join these sessions will be available on the Barnaby Festival website www. barnabyfestival.org.uk.
