Police rap for teens caught having party in the park

- ALEX SCAPENS

POLICE will issue anti-social behaviour notices to teenagers who were caught drinking in the park and then abused officers - proudly filming their bad behaviour on phones.

Around 30 youngsters ignored social distancing rules to congregate in Jasmine Park, Broken Cross, for a birthday party and were also suspected to have been smoking cannabis.

When police attended the scene, on Tuesday, June 16, the majority escaped but four stayed behind to shout insults at officers.

Three gave their names to officers and a fourth, who refused, has since been identified and parents of all of them are receiving police home visits.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “When officers attended the park, there were roughly 30 youths all drinking and suspected use of cannabis.

“As you can imagine the majority of the youths ran off. However, four of the youths decided to be abusive towards officers including videoing and using hostile language towards key workers.

”All four youths will be issued anti-social behaviour notices and home visits will take place. Abuse will not be tolerated. Apparently, this occurrence was for a birthday party.

”Next time you want to arrange a birthday party, think again (about) using Jasmine Park.“

Jasmine Park

has become a hotspot for antisocial behaviour and breaking lockdown rules.

Police have received continuing reports of groups meeting, drinking and playing loud music.

Officers have even joined with residents to clean up alcohol bottles and other rubbish the following day.

The police spokesman added: “I can only apologise to residents who have had to put up with antisocial behaviour in Jasmine Park.

“Please continue to report incidents to us and we will respond. The park is being monitored as much as possible.”

Other recent anti-social behaviour in the area includes scrambler bikes causing a nuisance at Priory Field and Becks Lane.

To report any issues call police on 101.
