Mike is new face on council team
A NEW member has been co-opted onto Macclesfield Town Council to fill a vacancy created by a resignation.
Mike Hutchison, who represents Labour, defeated Conservative candidate and former mayor Adam Schofield and the Green Party’s David Mayers in a ballot.
He replaces Dominic Sexton as a representative for Macclesfield West and Ivy ward.
Coun Hutchison moved to Macclesfield 37 years ago and worked as a teacher at what is now Fallibroome Academy and Tytherington High School before retiring in 2018.
He said: “I am looking forward to working with the community and other councillors to make a positive difference to people’s lives in the ward.
“I hope to build strong relationships and to encourage and support local residents to make their views known.”
Councillor Alift Harewood, a fellow town councillor: “We are pleased to welcome Mike to the West and Ivy team, and I am sure he will help us in our work for all the residents and businesses in the ward.”
