Foragers begin search for children’s natural talent

-

A NATURE-LOVING family business is encouraging youngsters to show their creative side.

Fruits of the Forage, based at Great King Street, Macclesfield, is running a competition in which children submit a piece of art inspired by their favourite fruit, vegetable or element of nature.

There are three age categories - six and under, 7-11 and 12-16 - with the winner of each adding their creation to the mural at the business’s production kitchen.

To do this they will work with artist Francesca De

Campora, who will help recreate the art work on the wall.

Fruits of the Forage was set up six years ago and makes cordials and preserves from native fruits and wild plants.

It is run by brothers Freddie and Bertie Thorneycroft, who have been joined by sister Ruby and brother Archie since lockdown began.

Ruby said: “Our aim is to get kids involved in the local community, connecting with nature and expressing themselves through art.

“Mural artist Francesca De Campora, will be working with children to help them replicate their piece of art on our wall.

“We want to see the wonderful creations children can make, inspired by their favourite fruit, vegetable or element of nature. Entries can draw, paint, sculpt their creation whilst exploring what nature has to offer and contributing to their local community through art.”

The competition runs until July 31, send entries via the Fruits of the Forage Facebook page to email wild@fruitsoftheforage. co.uk with the name and age of the child entering.
